Title: Varian Table - Dec 2005

Materials: Spectrum glass
(Colors - Yellow, Orange, black opal, dark & light green, white and brown)
Wood - ponderosa pine with natural stain.

Inspiration: Pay tribute to 2005 Arabian Breeder of the Year Sheila Varian, her nine generations of mares starting with *Bachantka, who was imported from Poland in 1961, and the ranch.

Design: The tiles are laid out in a picture design. There are three components.
Names were engraved on nine horseshoes that belong to the current group of Varian Mares including Bachista, Marigold V and Amazing Grace. The nine shoes also double as flower petals and represent the nine generations of the mares. The bottom is *Bachantka and go in the clockwise order as follows; *Bachantka, Ronteza, Nakanga, Moska, Balalinka, Autumn Fire, Bachista V, Marigold V and Amazing Grace.
The flower another symbol associated with feminity pays tribute to the beauty of the mare and grows out from the ground. Just like growing flower, the Varian mares have and continue to help grow Varian Arabians.
The barn and fence represent the ranch and are symbolic of the famous show ring where the horses are let out during the spring and summer events. The "V" in the center of the flower is another tribute to the ranch, but also reminds us about how the ranch and mares are one in the same and can't exist without each other.
All components blend together to pay an overall tribute to Sheila Varian.
